About MKUmbrella NPO
The Makhuduthamaga Home Community Based Care Umbrella NPO (MK Umbrella) is based in Limpopo Province, Sekhukhune District, and Makhuduthamaga Sub-district. It was founded in 2004 as a mentoring, monitoring, coordinating and capacitating organization. MK Umbrella has 18 years in operation through following various programs. The MK Umbrella operate in four Sekhukhune sub districts namely; Makhuduthamaga, Fetakgomo Tubatse, Ephraim Mogale and Elias Motswaledi within Sekhukhune District. The organization’s mail objective is to: Give Protection, Security, Hope, Medical Assistance, Counseling and other support to all people within Sekhukhune District regarding STI/HIV/AIDS and other related disease and their conditions through the Home-Based Care Network of member NGO’s, CBOs, and Lay Counselor’s in various health facilities as well as outreach program with the vision to Provide primary health care services in the community.
Job Title: Technical Advisor for Limpopo School Education Project

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Guidance:
- Provide expert advice on the design, development, and implementation of the School Education Project.
- Ensure that education interventions in schools align with the national education strategy, particularly those outlined by the Department of Health.
- Identify education priorities and challenges specific to the school setting and develop tailored solutions.
- Policy Alignment:
- Ensure all education programs and activities are compliant with relevant policies from the Department of Education and the Department of Basic Education.
- Collaborate with governmental bodies to integrate new education policies and standards into the school education system.
- Capacity Building:
- Lead the training of school staff, education workers, and community members on school education practices, including education, sanitation, and mental health.
- Strengthen the capacity of local education facilities and schools to deliver sustainable education services.
- Program Development and Support:
- Support the development of education programs addressing nutrition, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, hygiene, and other critical education needs in schools.
- Advise on the integration of education services such as immunization, education screenings, and emergency education services within the school setting.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Develop a framework for monitoring and evaluating the impact of education interventions on student well-being and academic performance.
- Collect and analyze education data to guide project decisions and report to stakeholders, including the Department of Education and other partners.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building:
- Facilitate partnerships between schools, education facilities, and community organizations to promote a comprehensive approach to student health.
- Engage parents and the community in education initiatives to ensure long-term support and engagement.
- Research and Innovation:
- Conduct research on emerging trends in school education and incorporate innovative solutions into the project.
- Recommend new technologies or practices that can enhance education service delivery within schools.
- Qualifications:
– A master’s degree in Basic education, education Management, or a related field.
– Additional qualifications or experience in education, particularly school health, would be advantageous.
- Experience:
– At least 5 years of experience in implementing education programs, preferably in school or community settings.
– Proven experience working with government education programs or policies, particularly in the context of South African education services.
- Skills:
– Leadership and Management: Strong ability to manage multi-stakeholder projects, including government, schools, NGOs, and community organizations.
– Communication and Advocacy: Excellent ability to advocate for school education programs and communicate complex education information to non-experts.
– Research and Data Analysis: Experience in research methodologies and the ability to analyze education data to improve program outcomes.
– Problem Solving: Ability to identify and address challenges related to education service delivery in schools, including resource constraints, infrastructure, and community engagement.
- Key Competencies:
– Strong understanding of national education policies, especially those related to child and adolescent education in South Africa.
– Experience in working with government bodies, such as the Department of Health, on public education initiatives.
– Capacity to design, implement, and monitor education and intervention programs tailored to school environments.
